Angelina Jolie has shared new reflections on her troubled marriage to Brad Pitt as their protracted divorce and legal disputes continue, particularly over the sale of her stake in their French vineyard, Château Miraval.

In a statement filed with a California court on October 9, Jolie revealed that neither she nor any of the couple’s six children have returned to Miraval since she filed for divorce in 2016, citing the property’s painful emotional associations.

“The circumstances that led to my decision to separate from my former partner were emotionally challenging for me and our children,” Jolie wrote, explaining that she gave up her rights to their homes in Los Angeles and Miraval in hopes of maintaining peace.

The actress noted that Miraval held deep sentimental value—it was where she and Pitt married, where she spent part of her pregnancy, and where their twins came home from the hospital—making the loss of the estate especially heartbreaking.

Jolie’s filing references “distressing events” that preceded her divorce, reportedly tied to a 2016 flight during which she claims Pitt became abusive toward her and one of their children—allegations Pitt has consistently denied.

The latest filing also claims Pitt agreed to buy Jolie’s share of the winery only if she signed an extensive non-disclosure agreement, which she says would have silenced her about the events that ended their marriage, prompting her to sell her stake elsewhere.
