Jussie Smollett, 43, is set to return to the spotlight on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, six years after his alleged hate crime scandal, showing fans a raw, unscripted version of himself.

At the show’s Los Angeles premiere, Smollett explained his participation was motivated by his nieces, nephew, and young fans, aiming to inspire resilience by demonstrating how to rise after setbacks.

Smollett described his experience on the physically demanding Fox series as both intense and enlightening, stressing that while the challenges were tough, the hardest battles were mental rather than physical.

Alongside debuting on the reality show’s fourth season on Sept. 25, Smollett will also release his new album Breakout on Sept. 30, marking another step in reshaping his public image.

Co-star Eva Marcille emphasized that audiences will see the “real Smollett” for the first time, as the actor has never done unscripted work and usually expresses himself through acting, activism, and music.
